Why you should wear an office progressive lens if your job is often deskbound.
A 47 year old female got her pair of progressive lens a few weeks ago from some optical shop. She was having some problems with her progressive and told her brother (who was referred by their mom to us) who than referred her to us.
Upon some troubleshooting and doing a lifestyle questionaire, we found out that she works as an admin officer who spends lots of time in front of the PC and needs to type reports. She seldom wears her glasses outside.
She was complaining that she can’t see clearly with her progressive at near, a pair of Sola Elan. She mentioned she needs to push her glasses very high up her nose before things look clear. Even so, she is still not happy. No problem with distance vision.
So we recommended and customised the Zeiss officelens Superb according to her working distance and preference. Technically, the amount of distortion at the sides can also be controlled for comfort and easy adaptaion.
She was reluctant and suspicious at first if the officelens will solve her problems. We reassured her that the officelens will work as it has worked for so many of our customers who wears them.
When she came to pick up her glasses, she was amazed that everything at near and computer look so clear ( compared to her other progressive) but distance vision (farther than 4m) is slightly blur but is acceptable to her. The width of the reading zone also increase by at least 50% and the amount of distortion at the side has also reduced and so felt more natural when wearing the officelens. She can glance at her desk as well as the computer effortlessly without adjusting her posture.
The Sola Elan progressive is not a bad lens, in fact it is quite a good lens if fitted properly. However, it’s just not appropriate for this particular customer profile and usage.
