At Evershine Optical, our Zeiss lens specialist are able to provide information about Zeiss Precision Progressive lenses and their specific applications to your individual prescription and lifestyle. If you have not done so within the last year,  our optometrist recommends having a comprehensive eye exam prior to ordering your new Zeiss Precision lenses.

Are there any special guidelines for taking care of Zeiss lenses?

We recommend using Zeiss Lens wipes (non-alcohol) or Zeiss Lens spray to remove facial oils on the lenses. Other parts of the frame can be cleaned with a moist cloth to remove any perspiration or oil. More info on Zeiss cleaning kit

You can also use a micro fibre cleaning cloth for touch-up cleaning throughout the day when it is not convenient to wash the lenses. And while your lenses usually incorporate a scratch-resistant coating, you should always store them in a case as a precaution. Avoid exposing your lenses to excessive heat and temperatures for long periods (like on your car’s dashboard, for instance).

Wearing Zeiss Progressive  Lenses

Should I expect to have an adaptation period with my Zeiss Progressive lenses?

Depending on the reading prescription, most people will enjoy the benefits of wearing a Zeiss progressive lenses right away, while others may take a bit longer to become completely comfortable. It typically takes 1 to 2 weeks to adjust to new progressive lenses. However, if you still don’t feel right, contact or visit us. Sometimes we just need to make some adjustments to the frame.

My vision feels different with my new Zeiss Progressive lenses when I look to the side. Is this a normal part of the adaptation period?

Yes. Most progressive lenses will introduce some changes to your peripheral vision due to power changes that occur in the periphery of the lenses. You may feel an initial difference in your peripheral vision that may require some slight changes in horizontal head and eye movements. Sensitivity to this area of the lens will diminish as you become more accustomed to the lenses. Fully customized Zeiss Individual 2 progressive lens will significantly reduce this head movement as peripheral distortions are reduced to a minimum.

To adjust quickly and comfortably:

    • Start wearing your new glasses immediately.
    • Wear your new glasses continuously, do not switch back and forth with your old glasses to speed up adaptation.
    • Wear glasses as close to your face as possible.

For most, this period of adaptation will only last a few hours. Some people may require several days or even few weeks before becoming completely comfortable. If you have been wearing your lenses for two weeks or longer and feel uncomfortable with your vision in any way, please contact our optometrist for an evaluation.

Are Zeiss lenses available with No-Glare treatment?

Yes. Zeiss Duravision platinum lens treatment is available on all Zeiss lenses and is the best option for a No-Glare treatment for your Zeiss Precision lenses. Duravision Platinum No-Glare treatment reduces the glare that causes eye fatigue, helping you see, look, and feel better. Ask our optometrist for Zeiss Precision Progressive lenses with Duravision Platinum No-Glare treatment.

Do Zeiss lenses come with scratch resistance and ultraviolet protection?

Yes. These options are available. Ask our optometrist for Duravision Platinum, which offers the best scratch resistance and UV protection. Duravision Platinum is available on all Zeiss Precision Lenses.

Progressive Lenses

What are progressive lenses and how do they differ from ordinary bifocals?

Progressive lenses allow you to see all distances clearly in a continuous field of vision with no lines.

Bifocal lenses provide a distinct near and far viewing area, but no intermediate area (1-2 feet away). The different viewing areas are separated by noticeable lines that can be awkward, abrupt, and frustrating. Image jump looking from the distance portion of the bifocal to the near portion is the biggest disadvantage of bifocals.  The intermediate zone is the most important zone where so much life happens.

Why are Zeiss Precision lenses better than other progressive lenses?

Who is a good candidate for Zeiss Precision progressive lenses?

Anyone who has presbyopia, including current bifocal and trifocal wearers, people using over-the-counter readers, or people unhappy with their current progressive lenses. People who has near vision problem, including the young people with cataract removed, or children with poor focusing ability (due to instilling of atropine to control their myopia), will benefit from Zeiss Precision Progressive lenses.

What is presbyopia and how do I know if I have it?

Presbyopia is an unavoidable age-related process that begins to gradually affect vision, usually after age 40. If you experience any of the situations below, you may be presbyopic, and it’s time to consult an eyecare professional for a comprehensive eye exam:

  • You experience blurred vision when reading up close
  • You find yourself holding reading material at arm’s length
  • You have trouble seeing in dim lighting, like reading a menu in a dark restaurant
  • You experience eye strain, tired eyes, or headaches
